Foshan
Located in southern Guangdong Province,
Foshan was named Foshan since three Buddhist
statues were unearthed during the reign
of Emperor Zhen Guan of the Tang Dynasty.
The places of interest are the Ancestral
Temple, the Confucian Temple, the ruins
in Shiwan, and the Stars Thatched Hut in
Mingyuan.The Ancestral Temple was erected
in the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127)
and was rebuilt in 1372 in the Ming Dynasty
(1368-1644). The temple enshrines the god
of the Taoism, and has a rich collection
of pottery statues, stone carvings, brick
carvings, woodcarvings, and bronze and iron
statues.
